What You'll Do

A Project Leader occupies an important position executing and supporting client service engagements in a variety of roles. A Project Leader with deep agile expertise may be responsible for delivering a specific piece of work as an advisor, or an individual contributor or, depending on the individual's profile and skill set, they may be responsible for leading a team. They may also play an advisory role on projects helping either to establish BCG's credibility or ramp the team up at the start of a particular piece of work, or providing regular support and guidance throughout the project. At the more senior levels individuals become increasingly involved in business development activities and increase the amount of time dedicated to development of their own and BCG's expertise.

Consequently, the responsibilities of a Project Leader include:
  • Working jointly with BCG and client project teams to execute projects in their domain of expertise, provide expertise and support to the team and to the client on site.
  • Contributing to business development efforts, including preparation of proposal documents and attending pitch presentations, as well as the development of intellectual property
  • Leading the day-to-day execution of consulting projects or expertise-heavy modules, and ensuring successful delivery of client requirements within the scope of the engagement; including:
   - Owning the project planning and process management
   - Communicating progress to clients and BCG leadership
   - Driving development of the content, either directly or by providing                     guidance to the consulting team (for example, by sharing ideas,                       frameworks or providing input on research and analysis)
   - Leading senior client presentations and meetings
   - Managing the client relationship on a day-to-day basis
   - Managing project scope and maintaining an acceptable pace of work
  • Providing apprenticeship and coaching to junior consultants to help develop their consulting skills, including sharing knowledge and experience, giving frequent feedback and creating opportunities for team members to learn and grow
  • Contributing to the running of the BCG office, which may include recruiting, training or other activities

Specific responsibilities and requirements to join our Software & Agile transformation team:

We are looking to recruit a Project Leader to join our Software and Agile Transformation team in A/NZ. As such the Project Leader would actively support or directly lead BCG teams in a wide range of challenging client engagements across top-tier firms. The successful applicants will have deep expertise in software development and large scale transformation, ideally with experience across multiple industries. They should be able to advise our clients on their software business strategy, as well as provide practical guidance on how to effect change and build out capabilities on par with high performing Cloud companies. They will also be expected to actively contribute to the business, people and IP development of the Technology Advantage practice, e.g. by mentoring team members and collaborating in research and publications. 

What You'll Bring (Experience & Qualifications)

  • A minimum of 7-8 years of combined work experience in actual software delivery (either for a pure player or within a global firm's IT department) and IT consulting pertaining to software delivery
   - Proven track record of mid to large-scale programs or products ($5                 -15 Million+ annual budgets)
   - Hands-on experience at managing large-scale change or                                  transformation across the enterprise
   - Demonstrated experience in driving and coaching teams, as well as                  business development
   - Experience working with C-level executives in the technology space
  • Deep experience / expertise in software delivery or software product management, ideally across a breadth of industries – notably cloud SW, telecoms, consumer, banking, health care and manufacturing
   - Experience in Agile transformation at scale in the Financial sector a                 plus for this position
   - Actual product management responsibility and / or agile                                   development experience a plus
  • Hands-on, practical knowledge of best practices for software organization, delivery and optimisation – notably Agile development methodologies, Lean / Six Sigma applied to Software, Performance evaluation and optimization and large program risk management
  • Desire to continue to broaden technology skills while deepening strategy and client-facing skills
  • An outstanding track record of leadership and achievement

Education and Qualifications:
  • Strong academics from a top-tier institution
  • An MBA is desirable but not essential
