Practice Area Profile
What You'll Do
Your expertise is of vital importance to BCG and our clients. As an Expert Project Leader you will be a core member of BCG’s Global Advantage Practice working alongside some of the world’s top minds in the industry. You will also significantly contribute to the development of our Global Trade and Investment topic expertise.
You will work on some of the most important trade projects with a special emphasis on clients based in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. As a project leader you will collaborate in BCG project teams consisting of high performing members with different backgrounds, conducting detailed fact-based analyses and developing state of the art strategic solutions in global advantage projects. You will also dedicate time to further develop and deepen BCG’s expertise in the topic, and to support BCG Partners in business development initiatives.
What will be expected of you in this role is to:
• Work with BCG Partners and teams in identifying priority trade dynamics, sectors, and prospective clients. She or he will lead and support sales development activities by preparing proposal documents and participating in proposal meetings with clients
• Take leadership in a project execution role, managing teams of BCG consultants from the “traditional” track, as well as members of BCG’s Knowledge Teams, as required.
• Build BCG’s intellectual capital on the topic of global trade and investment, with a particular focus on the relevant geographies. This activity may involve leading internal BCG teams in “Tier-1” research programs, as well as preparing and writing articles for publication. Public Speaking and Media events may also be undertaking, pending relevant approvals from within BCG
What You'll Bring (Experience & Qualifications)
• 10+ years of experience, ideally combining the following elements:
• Consulting: Experience within a high-calibre consulting organization will be an asset. Familiarity with the practices and techniques of consulting (eg, project management, content development, and output using power point
• Private-sector: Experience with a multi-national private-sector firm, in particular in roles related to strategy and/or international business and/or operations.
• Public Sector: Experience with public sector entities, in particular, direct familiarity and experience with key EU institutions (eg, DG Trade, DG Comp). Experience at the national level in a larger EU, in particular if such experience is in a foreign policy or trade policy context
Education
• Strong academics from a top-tier institution
• An MBA is desirable but not essential

• Client service orientation, including commercial capabilities
• Analytical and structured with excellent problem solving skills (hypothesis-driven approach etc.)
• Advanced quantitative analysis
• Ability to synthesize the impact of policy and drive to the “so what” for business
• Ability to drive to output through client presentation
• Excellent communication and persuasion skills
• Excellent written and spoken English
• German proficiency and experience in a German setting would be ideal
