Practice Area Profile

The Operations Practice (OPS) Area is one of BCG's largest functional practices. We help our clients create competitive advantage by enhancing their performance and building strategic capabilities. BCG’s expertise in Operations covers the following areas - supply chain management, procurement, manufacturing, service operations, cost efficiency, operational transformation, research & product development, program and project management, all with a strong digital and analytics overlay.

Role Profile

Your expertise is of vital importance to BCG and our clients. As an Expert Project Leader (PL) affiliated to Operations, you will be a core member of the Practice working alongside some of the world’s top minds in the industry. You will also significantly contribute to the development of our Digital Supply Chain topic, and support our ambitious growth targets. The majority of your time will be spent leading and developing BCG Digital Supply Chain related project teams composed of members of different backgrounds collaborating with you. You will also dedicate time to further develop and deepen BCG’s expertise in these areas, and to support BCG Partners in business development initiatives.

  • Play a leading role in the growth of our Digital Supply Chain topic through case execution, client development, and intellectual property & product creation
  • Execute, or provide expertise and support to, Digital Supply Chain projects across industries such as Retail, Industrial Goods and Pharmasueticals for our key clients
  • Work jointly with BCG and client project teams, bringing expertise to the team and to the client on site
  • Provide intellectual leadership for the project teams by generating key ideas and conceptual frameworks to guide research and analysis
  • Actively support our business development efforts: client meetings, industry conferences
  • Contribute to the creation of BCG’s intellectual capital on the topic : position papers, studies, insights from case experience, tools and products
  • Dedicate time to develop own and BCG’s expertise – developing and driving the content agenda to the next level
  • Provide mentorship and support to consultants ensuring continuous individual development
  • Contributing to the running of the London office, which may include recruiting, training or other activities

Your Qualifications

The ideal candidate possesses:

  • At least 7 years of work experience in top level advisory or consulting firms, ideally candidates will have a mix of industry and consulting experience
  • Experience working with/for well functioning, advanced and global businesses, ideally located within the UK
  • Deep knowledge of each element of the Supply Chain and specifically experience using technology and systems to implement world class supply chains for our clients
  • It is essential, you have already earned proven results at prior clients using digital methods to improve or transform their supply chain
  • Proven ability to analyse and interpret data through a business & economic lens to advise clients as to how to improve their Supply Chain strategy
  • 3-4 years leading/playing core role in driving projects – owning the project process, content and day-to-day client interactions
  • A track record of leadership and achievement, especially within Supply Chain Operations
  • Willingness to travel internationally and to work remotely on client sites

Education and Qualifications

  • Strong academics from a top-tier institution
  • An MBA is desirable but not essential

  • Problem solving – able to take a creative and an hypothesis driven approach in order to solve complex problems
