The Technology, Media & Telecommunications (TMT) practice works with companies across the digital device, software, IT services, TV, publishing, information services, entertainment and telecom sectors to make sense of the unrelenting velocity of technological and consumer change they face. We partner with clients to transform their industries, define winning business models, shape their value proposition and go-to-market approach, enhance their operational competitiveness, and create sustained advantage.

We are looking for Consultants and Project Leaders to join our TMT team. They will work as part of BCG teams in a wide range of challenging client engagements with some of the leading banks and financial institutions in Russia, CIS and globally.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities will fall broadly into three areas:

Client delivery (focus area)

• Working jointly with BCG and high impact client project teams, bringing expertise to the team and to the client on site
• Working independently at a module level on select topics
• Support case teams, especially those with need for deep expertise and a hands-on approach
• Contribute to the quality of the work, question results with sanity checks and with the project team
• Educate and inform clients proactively about state of the art technologies, methodologies and tools and how it can bring value to their business and, in particular, operations
• Lead role in presenting key findings to C-level executives

Topic and practice developments

• Contribution to improvement of methodology, tools, enablement material and topic development on areas of expertise
• Develop and contribute to BCG’s intellectual capital – working on BCG knowledge content projects to develop new techniques and/or capture new ideas as well as casework experience
• Contribute to BCG Practice Area publications

Specific telecommunications / media knowledge

• Solid understanding of telecommunications industry:
  • Understanding of business top-line, it’s main drivers: acquisition, pricing, churn and key fundamentals behind each
  • Understanding of key cost items, their drivers and important differences between key markets
  • Understanding of core telecom technologies: networks and IT systems involved in running the business and providing the services
• Well-developed consulting competences that result in top-down approach and problem solving skills. Strong analytical and financial modelling skills
• Practical experience in strategy development and full/partial operationalization/ implementation
• Strong root-cause analysis skills and ability to apply industry knowledge and core consulting skills to the concrete client’s situation and find solutions for the particular issues, create persuasive stories and being able to present it to C and C-1 level clients to prove his/her position

Additionally, the following is required on Project Leader level:

• Ability to act as project manager and lead consulting teams for an entire case or at a module level on select topics
• Ownership of project process, content and day-to-day client interactions
• Supporting case teams, either as an individual contributor or as an advisor to the overall project
• Ensuring the quality of the work, and the relevance of the synthesis and recommendations
• Challenging and managing work in progress and results
• Development of proposals from end to end around specific topics and participation in client proposals presentations
• Contributing to the development of additional business beyond the delivery of recommendations on client engagements

Education and Work Experience

• Preferred advanced degree in Mathematics, Physics, Information technology and / or Economics
• Strong academics from top-tier institutions (top 15% of class)
• Work experience of 7+ years in telecommunications, media and/or consulting with focus on telecommunications. For Project Leaders, previous consulting experience is a must!
