Practice Area Profile
What You'll Do
As an Expert Project Leader affiliated to the Procurement topic, you will be a core member of BCG’s OPS practice working alongside some of the world’s top minds in the industry. You will also significantly contribute to Procurement and support its ambitious growth target.
You will work on some of the biggest Procurement projects across industries & regions and lead BCG project teams with members of different backgrounds, advising clients on a variety of Procurement topics, including:
- Procurement strategy, including Digital Procurement
- Procurement transformation (savings generation, organization optimization)
- Commodity strategy
You will be expected to play a leading role in the growth of our Procurement topic through case execution, client development, and intellectual property & product creation
- Execute procurement projects in diversify industries: manage the client team, manage the BCG team, define and execute approach, make BCG content available to the project
- Support procurement projects: identify key issues, provide guidance on solutions, ideas and conceptual frameworks, share relevant material, guide the team in BCG procurement network
- Actively support our business development efforts: client meetings, industry conferences
- Contribute to the creation of BCG’s intellectual capital on the topic : position papers, studies, insights from case experience, tools and products
- Dedicate time to develop own and BCG’s expertise – developing and driving the content agenda to the next level
- Provide mentorship and support to consultants ensuring continuous individual development
In addition to your core focus on Procurement, you will also support other Operations topics, notably manufacturing ones.
Depending on the skill set and previous experience of candidates, we are open to considering slightly more junior profiles, on Project Leader level who will develop into a Principal role.
What You'll Bring (Experience & Qualifications)
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
- 8 to 12 years of work experience in procurement acquired in Consulting and Industry (preferably both)
- A proven ability to manage Procurement projects, leveraging innovative solutions and “advanced levers” (eg. Redesign, demand management) while improving organization maturity (process, tools)
- Advanced knowledge of Procurement processes (eg. P2P)
- A track record of project/team leadership and related achievements
- Willingness to travel internationally and to work remotely on client sites
Education
- Outstanding academic track record from a leading university
Professional Skills
- Analytical and structured with excellent problem solving skills (hypothesis driven approach etc.)
- Advanced quantitative analysis
- Superior problem-solving skills and ability to work well under pressure in a demanding environment
- A proven leader with exceptional drive and commitment
- Frequent travelling required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and French.

OUR EXPERT CAREER TRACK (ECT)
Expertise is of vital importance to BCG and our clients. Our clients expect BCG to help tailor solutions to their specific needs. Increasingly clients expect us to bring deep industry and functional expertise to the table. Our continued investments in knowledge and expertise have been a critically important driver of our success. The growth and development of the ECT cohort is a core component of these investments. ECTs are a core pillar of the strategy of the Operations Practice, you would join our group of ECTs dedicated to the practice, all of them having 7-10 years of industry background, plus consulting experience prior to joining BCG. This team will personally ensure that your integration in BCG will be a success. The track enables individuals to bring significant value to BCG with significant operational or technical experience in a specific field, usually gained outside of BCG either in industry, academia or specialised consulting.
