Practice Area Profile

BCG’s Technology, Media and Telecom (TMT) practice helps companies grasp the strategic implications of changes in the market environment and use them to build competitive advantage. The practice is organized in three segments: Technology, Media and Telecommunications.  This position will focus on our Technology Sector – specifically on contributing technical design and / or product management expertise to the Semiconductor sub-segment.

Role Profile

BCG is expanding our team of content experts supporting its global technology sector based out of its US West Coast system. The practice is currently looking for an Expert Principal who has significant technical experience in the Semiconductor design process (either analog or digital) or Semiconductor product management. The Expert will play a critical role in enriching firm expertise on this topic and in bringing this expertise to our semiconductor clients.

Contribute to the business development of the technology sector

  • Contribute and drive leads and proposals together with the partners of the practice
  • Engage with the development of additional business beyond the delivery of recommendations on client engagements
  • Develop the topic agenda, create respective content and foster awareness of BCG’s competence

Build expertise in our technology sector (Semiconductor sub-segment) within BCG and increase BCG’s profile externally

  • Develop and contribute to BCG’s intellectual capital – work on BCG content projects to create new techniques and/or capture new ideas
  • Build and maintain “fact packs” related to core semiconductor topics so there is an ever- available library of educational materials for internal and client usage
  • Responsible for supporting the technology sector in writing external reports, papers, and social media contributions of its partners in concert with the TMT practice’s marketing lead
  • Identify conferences for BCG’s attendance and help coordinate our participation

Lead and support execution of technology projects

  • Responsible for the overall methodology
  • Work jointly with BCG and client project leaders, bring expertise to the team, both on issues specific to the industry and on questions asked by the client
  • Support multiple case teams, co-lead modules, especially those in need for broad experience and hands-on approach
  • Ensure the quality of the work, and the relevance of any synthesis and recommendations.
  • Challenge work in progress, results and re-orient any analyses if needed

Your Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of technical experience in the semiconductor design process (analog or digital) or semiconductor product management
  • 2 years prior experience in management consulting with McKinsey, Bain, BCG, Booz, Monitor or similar (preferred)
  • Engineering, product management, or fabrication experience with a medium or large semiconductor company (examples include Intel, Qualcomm, Samsung, Toshiba, Infineon,
  • Established network within the semiconductor industry
  • Proven track record of implementation success
  • Undergraduate degree in CS, Engineering or relevant technical degree is preferred
  • MBA or PhD attractive but not required
Preferably San Francisco office of BCG, but will consider Seattle or Los Angeles.
