The Operations Practice (OPS) Area is one of BCG's largest functional practices. We help our clients create competitive advantage by enhancing their performance and building strategic capabilities. BCG’s expertise in Operations covers the following areas - supply chain management, procurement, manufacturing, service operations, cost efficiency, operational transformation, research & product development, program and project management, all with a strong digital and analytics overlay.

What You'll Do

We are looking for an expert at the Project Leader level with significant experience in Large Capital Project Management.  The candidate should have experience operating within the project space dealing with scoping, design and engineering, delivery models, cost and schedule optimization, contracting and construction/commissioning. At BCG, this role will be primarily client-facing, helping to lead teams and clients on Large Capital Project Management cases.  The expert should also be able to provide input to case teams and clients on an individual contributor basis, support the business development process, and participate in developing intellectual property (publishing articles, staying abreast of trends and company developments).

What You'll Bring (Experience & Qualifications)

The ideal candidate possesses:

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in LCPM operations with a focus on concept and design optimization, field execution, including implementation of the Last Planner System of Production control, project controls, and/or as a Senior Project Manager over individual large projects

o   At least 3 of these years should include consulting experience

o   Other acceptable experience to complement past consulting experience can include large project management and/or strategic roles within a large capital industry role (mining, O&G, power, aerospace, energy, petroleum).

  • The candidate should be familiar and conversant in all of the below topics, with distinctive expertise and depth in several:

o   Capex reduction

o   Design to value

o   Risk management for EPCs and/or owners

o   Procurement excellence

o   Contracting strategy

o   Scarce resource security

o   Construction excellence

o   PMO

  • Established network with LCPM industry participants
  • Track record of success in implementation
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering or Science from leading undergraduate program preferred
