What You'll Do

WHAT WE NEED

BCG is expanding its bicoastal (NYC/LA)-based team of content experts supporting its global media sector. The practice is currently looking for an individual at the Expert Project Leader or Expert Principal level who has significant hands-on operational experience in media & entertainment in one or more areas across OTT, video, broadcast, and content distribution.

WHAT YOU’LL DO (AND WHY IT MATTERS)

A qualified individual will play a critical role in enriching the firm’s expertise on the aforementioned topics and in bringing this expertise to our media clients. The role covers key activities such as:
  • Build expertise in media within BCG and increase BCG’s profile externally (develop intellectual capital, build and maintain industry fact packs, write external reports and papers, and identify conferences for BCG’s attendance)
  • Lead and support execution of projects for media clients (develop overall methodology and approach, work jointly with BCG and client project leaders, co-lead work modules, and ensure the quality of the work through challenging and re-orienting assumptions, analysis, and synthesis)
  • Contribute to the business development of the media sector at BCG (drive leads and proposals together with the partners of the practice, develop perspectives on key topics on the client agenda, and create respective content and foster awareness of BCG's expertise)

The Expert Consulting Track (ECT) is vital to BCG’s ability to successfully meet our clients’ demand for deep expertise and advanced technical capabilities. Experts deliver next-level impact for BCG's most complex and cutting-edge client challenges. Experts focus on developing BCG's thought leadership, commercial capabilities, and intellectual property assets; and their work is essential to our delivery model. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to bring the ‘best of BCG’ to our clients, Experts come from diverse backgrounds, with expertise often gained outside of BCG in industry, academia, or specialized consulting.

What You'll Bring (Experience & Qualifications)

YOU BRING

A qualified individual will play a critical role in enriching the firm’s expertise on the aforementioned topics and in bringing this expertise to our media clients. Ideal candidates will have a media background, as well as have demonstrated leadership in growing client relationships, people and knowledge development.

The ideal candidate possesses:
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the media industry directly with one or more recognized industry leaders, consulting to industry leaders, or a combination of industry and consulting experience (preferred)
  • A range of responsibilities in media-related activities (business development, planning, project management, strategy, technology, operations, marketing, … )
  • Focused / deep pockets of expertise in television/video strategy, operations, and technology, both linear and/or digital, in at least one of:
    • OTT product development, operations and/or technology
    • Video advertising operations, and/or technology
    • Broadcast operations and/or technology
    • Content distribution sales and/or acquisition negotiations
  • Emerging professional network within the media industry
  • Proven track record of implementation success
  • MBA attractive but not required

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

You’ll be an integral part of BCG’s Technology, Media and Telecom (TMT) practice, which has deep experience across all major segments, including broadcasters, cable networks, newspapers & magazines, fixed & wireless telcos, MVPDs, digital natives, studios, software companies, equipment & component manufacturers, etc. BCG's TMT practice accounts for nearly 12% of global BCG revenues, and is the fifth largest industry practice globally, driven by a global team of over ~110 dedicated partners and ~300 professionals.  

This position will primarily support our media sector, which has grown significantly over the past five years. Within the media sector, our revenues are over $150 million globally and support 50 core and affiliated partners, with significant overlap with the technology and telecoms part of the business.
