Practice Area Profile

The Technology, Media & Telecommunications (TMT) practice works with companies across the digital device, software, IT services, TV, publishing, information services, entertainment and telecom sectors to make sense of the unrelenting velocity of technological and consumer change they face. We partner with clients to transform their industries, define winning business models, shape their value proposition and go-to-market approach, enhance their operational competitiveness, and create sustained advantage.

What You'll Do

BCG is expanding its North American team of telecommunications experts supporting its global telecommunications sector. The practice is currently looking for an individual at the Expert Project Leader or Expert Principal level who has significant experience in telecoms. A qualified individual will play a critical role in enriching firm expertise on this topic and in bringing this expertise to our clients. Ideal candidates will have a telco or managed services for telco background, as well as have demonstrated leadership in growing client relationships, people and knowledge development.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The face of the telco industry is rapidly changing through ongoing market consolidation, evolving business models, and technology disruption. Working exclusively in our telco sector, you will help companies grasp the strategic implications of these changes in the market environment and use them to build competitive advantage.

In this role, you will lead and support the execution of single or simultaneous client engagements, advising as necessary on industry-specific issues and key client questions. You will direct and supervise research activities to obtain relevant data and define client needs and challenges. Working alongside BCG and client project leaders, you will contribute expertise, synthesize recommendations, challenge work in progress, and re-orient analyses as necessary. You will also drive commercial growth by supporting colleagues in their business development activities, originating leads and acting as a key topic content lead for proposals or other business development work.

You will also build telco expertise within BCG, and increase the firm’s external profile by creating new techniques and/or capturing ideas that strengthen our thought leader position, building and maintaining a content library for internal and client use, publishing and posting on the topic, and managing conference attendance, preparation, and participation.

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

BCG’s TMT practice is a global business unit made up of over 110 dedicated partners and 300 professionals. The practice area has seen significant growth in recent years, expanding to become our 5th largest industry practice.

As a TMT consultant, you’ll collaborate with BCG team members from many backgrounds and disciplines in a team-oriented, relationship-driven environment. Working alongside some of the world’s top minds on cases that reshape business, government and society, you will increase your understanding of complex business problems from diverse perspectives, and develop new skills. At the same time, you’ll partner with senior clients, taking on the role of trusted advisor, and work at all levels of the client organization to find and execute value creation strategies that result in meaningful, enduring impact.
