Role Profile

The Gamma Engineering team is building the next generation of analytics tools. With your help, Gamma will develop a platform that fuels BCG Gamma‘s global data and analytics offerings. Data scientists depend on easy to use interfaces to easily code, increase productivity, answer questions, and envision their results. Clients need to easily interact with our analytics applications to measure the success of their new analytics enabled organization or quickly make decisions based on what and how they see analytic output. Our clients will use our analytics solutions to derive insights around business trends. We “open the doors“ to data for our clients giving them fast and trusted options to search, frame, and share data.  Gamma X‘s goal is to help our clients understand what their data means and provide them the tools to share its narrative with various audiences.   

As a UX Engineer, you work on the front end of our products and the features used by our clients every day. The work is challenging, fast paced, and always changing. You have strong analytical skills, an unwavering commitment to quality, a collaborative work ethic, and cutting edge coding skills. You will have the unique opportunity to make a major impact to solve large scale and highly complex analytics, ML/AI and other technical problems. You should understand the core concepts JavaScript (not just jQuery), CSS, React, and HTML. You will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of the user interface for our first patent pending AI/ML product.

User experience (UX) is at the forefront of how we create intuitive, innovative, and impactful products that drive value for our clients across hundreds of industries every day. We collaborate closely with consultants, data scientists, product managers, software engineers, and many others to solve complex challenges every day for our clients. 

Work closely with UX designers, project managers and back-end engineers to implement versatile front-end solutions to tricky web development issues.
Understand basics of data science systems, analytics and the forefront of machine learning and AI
Engineer the libraries and frameworks that power our front-end stack
Launch, iterate and work with our clients to make our products shine. Provide front-end coding expertise, and be ready to make our products better for our users.
Research, Suggest and Implement different web frameworks suited to the specific platform

Your Qualifications

BA/BS degree in Computer Science, HCI, Design, or equivalent practical experience.
4 years of relevant work experience in software development.
Experience with web technologies (object-oriented JavaScript, HTML, CSS), and experience with the latest web standards including HTML5 and CSS3.
Experience designing and implementing complex UIs.

Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (such as React, Angular, or Ember) and CSS pre-processing frameworks (such as Sass or Less).
Experience with a scripting language, such as Python, Ruby, etc.
Experience with user-interface design.
Strong sense of web design and attuned to the fundamentals of user experience, including accessibility.
Ability to communicate to all levels of users (internal and external), strong problem-solving skills, adaptable, proactive and willing to take ownership.
