What You'll Do

WHAT WE NEED

BCG is looking for a Principal consultant who will partner with clients in the Financial Institutions industry to take on their most difficult challenges, transform mindsets, reimagine businesses, and build capabilities that enable organizations to achieve sustainable advantage. The ideal candidate will be inquisitive, curious, and confident, with a penchant for going above and beyond immediate project requirements to find deep insights that others have missed. A genuine passion for problem-solving, combined with first-rate leadership and communication skills will be critical to success.

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

BCG’s Boston office is where it all began. Today we remain at the forefront of innovative thinking in health care, financial services, industrial goods, consumer goods, retail, and high tech. We continue to focus on achieving real impact for our clients, which include a mix of leading and innovative local, regional, and global corporations and institutions. We are committed to BCG's strong tradition of social impact and community involvement. Our community service team is deeply involved in several local schools, youth programs, and shelters. In all of these ways, the Boston office reflects the city itself: rooted in rich history while constantly innovating and progressing to meet new opportunities.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Principals work at the forefront of client engagements and serve as a key driver of client value. At BCG, we set our standard for value creation high, challenging ourselves to deliver tangible and positive change. Our work must provide next-level insights, change the mindset of our clients, and directly lead to clients taking action and executing their business in new ways.

As the senior person most frequently at the client site, you will interact with the client lead on a day-to-day basis to ensure that expectations are aligned. Principals provide the project management oversight required to meet client expectations. Responsibilities may include the development of presentations, managing of external relationships and consultant work progress, providing status reports, and overseeing budgets.

Projects vary based on client needs, but the importance of seeing possibilities where other people find limits will be a constant. Principals go deep to unlock insight, challenge established thinking, drive transformation, improve performance, and deliver bottom-line impact.

What You'll Bring (Experience & Qualifications)

YOU BRING
  • 2 - 4+ years of post-graduate school consulting experience, and/or 3 – 5+ years of line management experience.
  • Dedicated experience within the financial services industry. Sector expertise of interest includes (but not limited to):
    • Asset management
    • Wealth management
    • Digital operations
  • Strong analytical skills and a high capacity for conceptual thinking. Ability to develop leading edge business models, frameworks for analysis, and long-term business strategies that maximize shareholder value. Must be able to thrive in a hypothesis-based environment where inductive rather than deductive reasoning is the norm.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage client engagements, client relationships, and provide “thought leadership” to teams, fully owning the responsibility for the quality of engagements.
  • A combination of managing teams and “hands on” delivery experience is critical. Principals supervise junior consultants as engagements are executed, but must be prepared to roll up their sleeves and get directly involved as well.
  • A solid track record of building strong client relationships with large organizations, as well as identifying opportunities to deepen those relationships and grow the business.
