We work in a uniquely collaborative model across the firm and throughout all levels of the client organization, fueled by the goal of helping our clients thrive and enabling them to make the world a better place.

Practice Area Profile

Climate change is not a future threat—it’s an immediate one. BCG’s Climate & Sustainability practice (C&S) partners with businesses and governments to help them transform commitments into action and build a decarbonized, more sustainable world, driving technological and economic transformations to realize sustainable competitive advantage.
As part of our commitment to protecting the planet and helping clients achieve sustainable competitive advantage, BCG is deepening and broadening its focus. C&S brings together more than 550 experts covering the full range of sustainability topics, including biodiversity, circular economy, decarbonization, sustainable agriculture, transition financing, water management, and other ESG topics—across all sectors—to support our clients around the world.

What You'll Do

Lots of people talk about sustainability—in the Group, you’ll really work on it. In our new internship program BCG Climateship, you will work as a Visiting Climate Activist for eight to twelve weeks, advising companies on the topics of sustainability and environmental protection within our Climate & Sustainability (C&S) practice area. You’ll have the chance to make an impact for everyone. Along the way, you’ll be able to continue your education in exclusive masterclasses on the topic of climate and sustainability and expand your network at events. During your Climateship, you’ll be a full team member from day one, doing the same work as an Associate from the first second on. You’ll gain crystal-clear insights into the Group, getting to know the everyday life of a consultant and the world of management consulting. You will also receive training tailored to your needs and the opportunity to work on your personal development with the support of your BCG Buddy. And a little spoiler: If you’re a good fit for the Group and the Group is a good fit for you, we’ll just turn your Climateship into a permanent position. Are you ready to help our clients achieve their climate goals as a Visiting Climate Activist? Then apply now and maybe even stay part of BCG long-term after your internship.

Good to know: You can apply for your BCG Climateship throughout the year and start as a Visiting Climate Activist at various points in time.

What You'll Bring (Experience & Qualifications)

We are looking for German-speaking students of all fields (bachelor students from their third semester on, master students), PhD students, and professionals who have already gained some practical experience. We’re also looking for real interest in climate and sustainability topics, which you have proven in your choice of major or your college courses, your internships and extracurricular activities, or by founding an initiative of your own.

You have a sharp analytical mind and strong communication skills, you’re curious and resourceful, and you enjoy working with numbers as much as you do with people. You have the drive to make a difference and change the world for the better.
