Practice Area Profile

BCG’s Energy practice helps companies navigate an increasingly complex business climate. The practice covers the Oil & Gas and Power & Utilities sectors. We also have deep knowledge in Energy transition and Sustainability, Energy Trading and Risk Management and Energy Engineering and Services. Our projects typically apply BCG’s core consulting skills in functional areas such as, digitalization, strategy, organisation or performance improvement, but in the distinctive environment of Energy. We also address projects that touch upon more operational or technical challenges, which we deliver through our expert consultants, occasionally partnering with external specialists. We work with the senior leaders of leading international and national oil companies, service providers, utilities, regulators and financial institutions. What You'll Do

As an Expert Consultant / Project Leader - level depends on the candidate’s previous experience and interview performance – you will be an innovative, creative thinker with experience managing large-scale organizational change efforts, a genuine passion for problem-solving, and specific Electric Vehicles (EVs) experience within the Automotive industry. You will play a leading role in the growth of our EVs topic through intellectual property & product creation, client development and case execution. 

Intellectual property & product creation: 
  • Provide intellectual leadership for the project teams by generating key ideas and conceptual frameworks to guide research and analysis 
  • Build intellectual property & products driving fundamental transformation in EVs
Business Development: 
  • Help grow a business, work with the current Automotive leadership team to expand footprint, identify products to create and client opportunities, develop and grow team 
  • Work jointly with BCG and client project teams, bringing expertise to the team and to the client on site 
  • Actively support our business development efforts: client meetings, commercial discussions, preparation of proposals, industry conferences 
Expert case execution: 
  • Execute or provide expertise and support to operational excellence projects in EVs for our key clients in Southeast Asia
  • Provide mentorship and support to consultants ensuring continuous individual development

The Expert Consulting Track (ECT) is vital to BCG’s ability to successfully meet our clients’ demand for deep expertise and advanced technical capabilities. Experts deliver next-level impact for BCG's most complex and cutting-edge client challenges. Experts focus on developing BCG's thought leadership, commercial capabilities, and intellectual property assets; and their work is essential to our delivery model. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to bring the ‘best of BCG’ to our clients, Experts come from diverse backgrounds, with expertise often gained outside of BCG in industry, academia, or specialized consulting.

What You'll Bring (Experience & Qualifications)

Experience:
  • At a consultant level, least 6-7 years of work experience gained either at a leading Automotive company specializing in EVs with a succession of roles showing clear progression in responsibilities. 
  • Incumbent with good experience in Power & Utilities decarbonization who has worked in this sector and has/had exposure to EV infrastructure etc. can also apply.
  • At a Project Leader level, 3-4 additional years of leading consulting projects for a top level advisory or consulting firms are a must.
  • A track record of project/team leadership and related achievements.
  • Willingness to travel internationally and to work remotely on client sites.

  • Analytical and structured with excellent problem-solving skills (hypothesis driven approach etc.) 
  • Solid business acumen and commercial capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and persuasion skills.
  • Flexible, curious and creative, open for new things and able to propose innovative ideas.
