Practice Area Profile

BCG’s Financial Institutions Practice Area (FIPA) aims to be the consultant of choice for leaders in the financial industry. We seek to achieve that goal by helping clients find their way amid the ever-evolving, ever-shifting competitive landscape. By focusing on the fundamental economics of their businesses and the underlying needs of their customers, we help banks, brokerages, asset managers and other financial- services organizations rethink their strategic assumptions, identify winning business propositions, and seize new opportunities in the expanding digital environment.

What You'll Do

As an Expert Project Leader or Associate Director from the Financial Institutions practice, you will be part of BCG teams that partner with leading companies to shift mindsets, shape agendas, and create value through digital transformation programs.  You will accompany companies from a variety of sectors and industries through decisive changes.  


The Expert Consulting Track (ECT) is vital to BCG’s ability to successfully meet our clients’ demand for deep expertise and advanced technical capabilities. Experts deliver next-level impact for BCG's most complex and cutting-edge client challenges. Experts focus on developing BCG's thought leadership, commercial capabilities, and intellectual property assets; and their work is essential to our delivery model. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to bring the ‘best of BCG’ to our clients, Experts come from diverse backgrounds, with expertise often gained outside of BCG in industry, academia, or specialized consulting. 


As a service operations expert, you will:

  • Work jointly with BCG and client project teams, bringing expertise to the team and to the client on site 
  • Provide intellectual leadership for the project teams by generating key ideas and conceptual frameworks to guide research and analysis 
  • Actively support our business development efforts: client meetings, industry conferences 
  • Dedicate time to develop own and BCG's expertise - developing and driving the content agenda to the next level 
  • Provide mentorship and support to consultants ensuring continuous individual development 
  • Contribute to the creation of BCG’s intellectual capital on the topic: position papers, studies, insights from case experience, tools and products 

What You'll Bring (Experience & Qualifications)

  • At least 10 years of experience in a top tier financial institution or 7 years in a consulting firm, with knowledge of Lean Six Sigma 
  • Candidates will lesser experience will be considered at the Project Leader level
  • Expertise in process redesign within middle or back office operations, such as call centres or cash operations 
  • Consulting mind-set: hypothesis-led problem solving, framing and communicating complex ideas, thinking strategically 
  • Fluency in English communication and presentation 
  • Strong academics from a top-tier institution
