Practice Area Profile

BCG’s Financial Institutions Practice Area (FIPA) aims to be the consultant of choice for leaders in the financial industry. We seek to achieve that goal by helping clients find their way amid the ever-evolving, ever-shifting competitive landscape. By focusing on the fundamental economics of their businesses and the underlying needs of their customers, we help banks, brokerages, asset managers and other financial- services organizations rethink their strategic assumptions, identify winning business propositions, and seize new opportunities in the expanding digital environment.

What You'll Do

As a risk Expert Project Leader, you will be a core member of BCG’s Financial Institutions practice working alongside some of the top minds in the industry. You will also significantly contribute to business development, risk and compliance intellectual capital creation, and team building. You will work hand in hand with the decision makers of our clients, with a real seat at the table, and building long-term relationships.

The role:
  • Execute risk and compliance management projects, mainly within in banking, but also potentially within insurance and other industries
  • Define and implement comprehensive risk and compliance governance frameworks, and use them to assess client practices
  • Develop risk and compliance management processes and models aligned with regulatory constraints
  • Monitor and analyse regulatory requirements, their evolutions and their operational implementation
  • Work jointly with BCG and client project teams, bringing expertise to the team and to the client on site
  • Actively support our business development efforts: intellectual capital development, client meetings, industry conferences
In addition to your core focus on risk and compliance management, you might also participate in projects related to other Financial Industry topics such as support function organization, modelling, etc.

What You'll Bring (Experience & Qualifications)

  • 5+ years of work experience in underwriting, risk management, compliance, modelling, trading or finance functions in a leading banking institution and/or consulting firm
  • Candidates with lesser experience may be considered at the Consultant level
  • Strong academics from a top-tier institution
  • Advanced knowledge of banking risks (market, credit, liquidity, operational risks) and/or banking regulations (Basel 4, TRIM, DF/CCAR …) and/or compliance
  • Analytical and structured thought process with excellent problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication and persuasion skills to interact with presence at senior levels and influence key stakeholders
  • Superior business sense and good ability to work beyond core Risk management topic
  • Driven self-starter, hard-working, entrepreneurial, proactive and productive
  • Flexible, curious and creative, open for new things and able to propose innovative ideas
