Our diverse, global teams bring deep industry and functional expertise and a range of perspectives that question the status quo and spark change. BCG delivers solutions through leading-edge management consulting, technology and design, and corporate and digital ventures. We work in a uniquely collaborative model across the firm and throughout all levels of the client organization, fueled by the goal of helping our clients thrive and enabling them to make the world a better place.

Practice Area Profile

BCG is supporting the world's largest principal investors & private equity (PIPE) firms with the full spectrum of services covering the entire value chain from transaction services to transformative profit improvement programs for portfolio companies to strategy and operations work for the funds themselves. We are organized into six distinct sectors: Private Equity, Sovereign Wealth Funds (SWFs), Pension Funds, Hedge Funds, Family Offices and Infrastructure & Real Estate.

What You'll Do

We are looking for Project Leader and Principal consultants to join our Private Equity industry group.  In this role you will help private equity clients assess potential target companies and their related markets in commercial diligence and also work with our clients to help maximize value of their existing portfolio companies. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working in private equity commercial due diligence – most likely within management consulting.

Project Leaders play a key role on PE client commercial due diligence engagements, managing a consultant team to drive market studies assessing the market outlook, detailing competitive landscape and target company competitive positioning, performing voice of customer work and analyzing value creation opportunities. They apply knowledge of business principles and industry sector knowledge to develop actionable insights and recommendations.

As a more senior member of the team, Principals also manage commercial due diligence engagements but also have a more expansive role that may include specific industry and / or functional expertise.  They also have increasing client relationship responsibilities and interact with the client lead on a day-to-day basis to ensure that expectations are aligned. Principals provide the project management oversight required to meet client expectations.

Projects vary based on client needs, but the importance of driving to outcomes and insights where other people find limits will be a constant. Project Leaders and Principals go deep to deliver insight, unlock value, challenge established thinking, and deliver outstanding project outcomes.

What You'll Bring (Experience & Qualifications)

  • 3+ years of post-graduate school consulting experience working with private equity firms. Experience could be within a firm, in management consulting or a combination of the two
  • 1+ year(s) of line management experience
  • Depth in a particular industry vertical is a plus (e.g. industrial goods, business services, distribution, consumer products, retail, etc.)
  • Strong organizational skills and an analytic mindset. Must be able to understand and employ a variety of analytical tools to study markets and market segments, develop frameworks and hypotheses, quantify strategic options, and assess their effectiveness.
  • Expert communication and presentation skills. Ability to synthesize their team’s work into recommendations for presentation to clients and deliver oral and written reports to client management.
  • Intellectual curiosity, coupled with a drive to figure things out, get things done, and have an impact at the organizational level.
