Practice Area Profile

The Operations Practice (OPS) Area is one of BCG's largest functional practices. We help our clients create competitive advantage by enhancing their performance and building strategic capabilities. BCG’s expertise in Operations covers the following areas - supply chain management, procurement, manufacturing, service operations, cost efficiency, operational transformation, research & product development, program and project management, all with a strong digital and analytics overlay.

What You'll Do

We don’t just focus on improvements that cut costs; we look for opportunities to make processes faster, smoother, and less complicated, giving employees more time to concentrate on value-creating activities. Our service operations consulting teams deliver results through structural redesign, process simplification, and Digital Support functions, with an unrelenting focus on operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

As an Expert Project Leader (PL), you will be a core member of BCG's Operations Practice working alongside thought leaders with deep practical experience in making change happen in operations. The successful candidate will play a leading role in the growth of our Service and Support Operations offering by helping to deliver projects, building our intellectual property, and developing executive-level client relationships across some of the world’s leading organisations. You will collaborate on challenging projects with team members from many backgrounds, advising BCG’s clients on a variety of topics, including:
  • Cost and efficiency improvement
  • Enablement
  • Full transformation
  • E2E optimisation and digitisation

What will be expected of you in this role is to:
  • Play a leading role in the growth of our Operations Practice and the Service and Support Operations topic through case execution, client development, and intellectual property & product creation
  • Support and lead BCG and client project teams, bringing expertise to the team and to the client onsite
  • Provide subject matter expertise in workshops, client calls and proposals, covering areas such as Finance, Risk, Human Resources and Technology (note: deep experience in all functions is not required, however ability to hold an executive-level conversation across multiple functions is critical).
  • Creating value and driving impact for our clients by providing clear recommendations; assessing implementation challenges and delivering sustainable results
  • Actively support our business development efforts: client meetings, industry conferences
  • Provide mentorship and support to consultants ensuring continuous individual development

Our Expert Consulting Track (ECT)

The Expert Consulting Track (ECT) is vital to BCG’s ability to successfully meet our clients’ demand for deep expertise and advanced technical capabilities. Experts deliver next-level impact for BCG's most complex and cutting-edge client challenges. Experts focus on developing BCG's thought leadership, commercial capabilities, and intellectual property assets; and their work is essential to our delivery model. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to bring the ‘best of BCG’ to our clients, Experts come from diverse backgrounds, with expertise often gained outside of BCG in industry, academia, or specialized consulting.

What You'll Bring (Experience & Qualifications)

  • You ideally have at least 6-8 years of consulting experience in support functions (including Finance, HR or Risk), shared services (such as call centres or support centres) and/or industry experience working within these functions/operations
  • Experience driving complex transformation using technology and process innovation in shared services and support function environments (accounting/finance, human resources, risk and/or customer services) as well the change management required during these transformations
  • Previous leadership and people management of project teams
  • Ability to work creatively and analytically in a time-limited, problem-solving environment
  • Minimum of a Bachelors degree with outstanding academic performance from a top tier university
