Practice Area Profile

The Operations Practice (OPS) Area is one of BCG's largest functional practices. We help our clients create competitive advantage by enhancing their performance and building strategic capabilities. BCG’s expertise in Operations covers the following areas - supply chain management, procurement, manufacturing, service operations, cost efficiency, operational transformation, research & product development, program and project management, all with a strong digital and analytics overlay.

What You'll Do

  • Your main focus will be operations projects in your key area of expertise (e.g., manufacturing, supply chain, or procurement) and leading project teams composed of members with different backgrounds.
  • You’ll play a major role in growing your key operations topic through cases, client development, and intellectual property and product creation.
  • You’ll build on and share your operations expertise within BCG, serving as a hub for the firm to reach new solutions, inputting new ideas, and drawing on your casework experience.
  • You’ll carry out or provide expertise and support on operations projects for our key clients in Central Europe and beyond.
  • You’ll contribute to BCG’s practice area publications and to the Operations practice area’s approach and tool kit, benchmarks, templates, and processes, including managing and developing third-party partnerships.
  • You’ll work jointly with BCG and client project teams, bringing expertise to the team and to the client on-site.
  • You’ll support our business development efforts in client meetings and at industry conferences.

What You'll Bring (Experience & Qualifications)

  • You have worked in the industry and/or top management consulting and can demonstrate impressive results from prior projects to improve or transform operational processes.
  • Your deep knowledge allows you to analyze and interpret data through a business and economic lens, and to successfully advise international clients.
  • You are an active contributor to the industry, such as through your participation in associations, publications, or your passion about topics in this space (e.g., manufacturing technology, development, and new platforms).
  • You have either spent 3 to 5 years at a top-tier consulting firm working in this field or have gained substantial experience in the industry.
  • You have spent significant time in the industry in different disciplines, like MSAT, engineering, quality, supply chain, CMC development, manufacturing, OE, digital, or lean, and have led important efforts in these areas.
  • You understand the technology, science, and managerial aspects of what it takes to bring a product to market both from a development and a manufacturing perspective.
  • You lead teams and interactions with client teams on operational topics.
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills in German and English, in addition to strong presence, team spirit, and leadership skills.
