BCG Platinion launched in Germany in 2000 to add deep technical expertise to the Boston Consulting Group’s existing capabilities. Today, our presence spans across the globe, with offices in Asia, Europe, and South and North America. Our New York-based North American team began in 2014 and in 2017 acquired MAYA Design, a Pittsburgh-based digital design and innovation lab, to grow our capabilities around technology and design. We support our clients’ total digital transformation through technology, design, cybersecurity, and risk management & financial engineering capabilities. And together with BCG, BCG Platinion’s interdisciplinary team of technical experts enable customized technical solutions and accelerate delivery value through new business platforms, application consolidations, and major system implementations.

What You'll Do

Interested in shaping tomorrow's IT strategy of a global bank? Keen to apply your technical knowledge into reality by assessing and enhancing our clients' IT architectures? Ready to bring your IT expertise to clients who are transforming their landscapes and core systems? Excited to drive forward critical IT modules in large implementation programs? We are looking for Senior IT Architects that are representing the BCG / Platinion brand, working at different levels and project portfolios, with deep exposure to our client’s IT management and business executives.

A Senior IT Architect typically works closely together in a mixed BCG/client team and takes responsibility for critical modules in large-scale implementation programs, drives short-term assessments on architectural IT topics or rolls up his sleeves to build MVPs together with client’s IT delivery. You will collaborate with senior stakeholders from IT and business to analyse IT platforms, large-scale architectures as well as complex application landscapes and assess health of IT programs.

Typical tasks include the following:
  • Management of critical work packages/modules in large-scale IT implementation projects
  • Assessment of technical architectures & performance of technical proofs of concept
  • Supporting the analysis of complex IT architectures, Solution Architectures as well as optimization of development processes
  • Running workshops with client IT and business teams to identify and formulate business and IT requirements for core IT systems or innovation topics such as Big Data & Analytics
  • Analysis of complex IT application landscapes with hundreds or thousands of IT applications
  • Supporting IT project management and quality assurance

What You'll Bring (Experience & Qualifications)

  • A university degree with above-average academic performance in information technology or a related field
  • At least 4 years of professional experience
    • in the execution and management of (sub)projects using Waterfall and Agile approaches
    • in the field of professional software development or IT project management using Waterfall and Agile methodologies
    • in the assessment of IT target architectures and IT application landscapes in an enterprise environment, component technologies, and service-oriented architectures
  • Full understanding of interdependencies between her/his own work stream and the overall project context, being able to scope and design a work stream autonomously and take responsibility
  • Extensive technical expertise (overarching understanding of architecture, object-oriented programming languages, database design and systems, component technologies, XML standards, and current technology trends) of digital solutions on mobile devices as well as legacy environments
  • Experience with IT technologies such as No-SQL and SQL DBs, Big Data environments (e.g., Hadoop, Redshift) and PaaS/IaaS platforms such as Pivotal, Heroku, AWS, Azure
  • Experience in the analysis of IT architectures and/or Solution Design as well as the analysis of large-scale architectures and application landscapes
  • A strategic thinker, entrepreneurial, able to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
