As an Associate Director you will play an important role in helping to lead Platinion’s London office, working closely with the Managing Director team and other members of the leadership team in the wider region. You will have particular responsibility for revenue generation, profitability and the growth of BCG Platinion’s presence within the financial services sector. 

In order to grow the business you will work collaboratively in partnership with other BCG practices and geographic regions, building senior level relationships with internal stakeholders in sales and delivery situations, leveraging BCG Platinion’s capabilities and adding value to BCG’s existing and potential future client portfolio. 

From a technical perspective you will have a rare mix of deep technical skills with experience around Front-end architecture and data platform experience, along with strong knowledge around traditional and next generation banking platforms. 
 
You will be the lead practitioner on client engagements in large complex enterprise environments, working  closely with financial clients to understand their issues, defining IT Strategies, architecture solutions, winning buy-in for your teams recommendations and collaborating with fellow BCGers to transform client potential into performance. You will help your teams flourish through thought leadership, team mentoring and business development. Clients will seek your advice on business and technical challenges that extend beyond the immediate scope of your project work.


 

What You'll Bring (Experience & Qualifications)

  • 15 + years’ experience in software development, technical project management, digital delivery, or technology consulting
  •  You will preferably have partner level IT Consulting experience or Senior IT Leadership experience from a reputable organisation with experience at engaging at the C-level.
  • Strong entrepreneur and CTO mindset with previous experience of helping to set up or expand a technology practice
  • Strong commercial and business acumen with a strong track record of selling and winning IT engagements such as large-scale IT implementation, IT architecture renewal, digitalisation of customer journeys and Agile transformation expertise to clients in the financial services sector 
  • Experience with traditional core banking platforms (Temenos, Fiserv, Finacle or Backbase for example) and experience with next generation banking platforms (10x, ThoughtMachine or Mambu for example)
  • Background in IT Architecture with experience around front-end architecture with data platform experience (Apache Hadoop-Kafka-Storm & Spark, Cassandra, Elastic search for example)
  • Strong thought leadership experience with experience of leading teams of architects
  • Experience of infrastructure setups on AWS and Azure with familiarity around services that support data science environments as scale
  • Overview of common development methods and tools DevOps practices and Continuous Improvement
  • Ability to balance dogmatism and pragmatism to guide decision making. Articulate trade-offs and drive high-impact technology decisions on topics including (but not limited to) IaaS/PaaS providers, container orchestration, service mesh, API gateways, and commercial vs. open source software
  • Micro services topologies, including operational concerns such as resiliency, observability, discovery and routing, security etc.  
  • Have experience with, and understand how to lead, legacy integration and remediation (facades, strangler approaches, et. al.)
  • Deep understanding of different integration patterns and best practices such as events, synchronous vs. asynchronous
  • University degree with above-average academic performance in a mathematical-scientific field, information technology, or business administration
