What You'll Do

At BCG Platinion we're keen to engage with experienced, passionate and creative Designers with backgrounds in Product Design who will help us unlock our client’s digital potential and ignite change. 

As a Lead Product Designer, you will ensure that the products and features we build for our clients are valuable for people, businesses, and communities, easy to use, and of the highest level of craft and execution.

In this role, you will be working alongside Business and industry experts, with your Tech peers in Product, Engineering, Data and other disciplines to define the strategy, operations, and communications that inform the team to build great products addressing real user needs.

The ideal candidate will have strong fundamentals in people management; org building; systems, interaction, and visual design; system and service design, and experience elevating design quality and efficacy in a data-informed product culture. 

In this role, you will help build and manage a talented, diverse, inclusive team of product designers and leaders that consistently delivers on projects and cases, well-balanced across a range of design skill sets.

Responsibilities:

Optimising the delivery of business value through new products and services, enhancement of existing services, process improvement, user research and user-centred design.
Performing user research through qualitative enquiry, quantitative data analysis and user testing 
Applying Design Thinking principles to Define Prototypes of potential solutions
Obtaining and propagating a solid understanding of the business domain and processes within the context of the client, capturing user goals, needs and expectations and translating these into personas, journeys and user stories that support strategic improvements.
Spearheading process optimisation through process modelling and service design, taking into consideration the product strategies within the product family area, along with system and data landscapes.
Driving experience design activities to improve user interfaces and task flows through wire-framing, prototyping and ideation workshops.
Working closely with the Product Owners and other members of the product team, with a clear focus on delivering value quickly while helping to steer the product area towards business- and user-centred improvements.
Engaging with the client Tech, UX & Design Teams to support the maturity of UX and Design across
Partnering with the business area to understand their challenges and needs, whilst working to manage system and process changes within these user groups, helping ensure smooth deployments and satisfied customers.
Keeping up with trends in your product family area, including mobile, wearables and social media.

Key Accountabilities:

Drive collaboration and vision across the company to build alignment on priorities leading to product design and execution.
Partner closely with a team of product managers, engineers, content designers, and user experience researchers to deliver high-quality experiences for people across markets, platforms and product surfaces.
Oversee multiple projects and scale design resources, ensuring deadlines are met, your org is effective, and team members are set up for success by setting clear and measurable goals.
Develop design talent and build a thriving culture where designers grow in their careers and feel a strong sense of inclusion and belonging.
Design and scale the organization and equip the team for success in its goals.
Foster a strong, collaborative design practice.

Planning

Ensure overall product design strategy through coherency of initiatives of different squads
Communicate product design vision and strategy across the squads, helping to ensure that squads implement this vision into reality
Lead Exec level workshops to understand ‘North Star KPIs' and business unit roadmap sessions to ensure alignment of product roadmaps across the vertical
Analyze the market, regularly conducting pricing, competitive, and profitability analyses

What You'll Bring (Experience & Qualifications)

We are looking for designers that thrive in the complexity of large problems working with clients to develop or enhance products for their customers that meet the needs of the business whilst being intuitive, efficient, effective and satisfying to use.

Product and technical expertise:

Significant product design experience (8+years or equivalent)
Previous experience leading teams
Proven experience launching a product and improving the user journeys
Experience working on complex issues which require deep analysis of situations or data, both qual and quant.
Experience leading teams in solving hard problems, managing innovative initiatives, and representing the company as an industry leader in design.
An expert-level grasp of management practices and tools.
Design experience using storytelling and persuasion to connect strategy and vision with day-to-day practicality.
Experience working with budgets and delivery schedules.
Good understanding of technology and ability to understand technical concepts quickly

Other key requirements:

Strong understanding and experience in lean agile project management methodologies
•       Experience of working in the Financial Services or Insurance industry highly desirable
Excellent communication skills, ability to communicate with various types of senior stakeholders from engineers to business executives
Demonstrated ability to learn multiple functional areas of business – engineering, design, finance, sales, or marketing
Excellent end-to-end understanding of the business model, business strategy, ROI, and key financial levers within the business unit
Experience in using consumer insights via focus groups, usability, surveys, behavioural data, and A/B testing
Very able to propose solutions to difficult problems with many constraints, using sound judgement to assess risks, and lay out arguments in a well-structured, data-informed, written narrative
Experience in digital transformation and the ability to proactively contribute to a product organisation and culture are highly beneficial
