Practice Area Profile

The Operations Practice (OPS) Area is one of BCG's largest functional practices. We help our clients create competitive advantage by enhancing their performance and building strategic capabilities. BCG’s expertise in Operations covers the following areas - supply chain management, procurement, manufacturing, service operations, cost efficiency, operational transformation, research & product development, program and project management, all with a strong digital and analytics overlay.

What You'll Do

As an Expert Consultant you will play a key role in the development of our Operational Excellence and Transformation topics as well as support our growth targets. You will advise clients across countries and industries supporting them to improve or transform their businesses and achieve excellence in what they do, as we work to deliver lasting impact in a highly dynamic environment. Additionally, you will work with BCG project teams supporting them to find the right approach, deliver on time and to achieve long-term impact for our clients.

In this role you will be expected to:

  • Build and spread Operational Excellence or Transformation expertise within BCG, serving as an Operations expert for the firm to develop new techniques and/or capture new ideas as well as casework experience
  • Ability to contribute to BCG's practice area publications and to BCG's approach and toolkits, benchmarks, templates, processes as well as position papers, studies and insights from case experience
  • Work jointly with BCG and client project teams, bringing expertise to the team and to the client on site
  • Execute, or provide expertise and support Operations projects for our key clients in Europe and beyond
  • Be part of our business development efforts: client meetings, industry conferences etc.

Our Expert Consulting Track (ECT)

The Expert Consulting Track (ECT) is vital to BCG’s ability to successfully meet our clients’ demand for deep expertise and advanced technical capabilities. Experts deliver next-level impact for BCG's most complex and cutting-edge client challenges. Experts focus on developing BCG's thought leadership, commercial capabilities, and intellectual property assets; and their work is essential to our delivery model. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to bring the ‘best of BCG’ to our clients, Experts come from diverse backgrounds, with expertise often gained outside of BCG in industry, academia, or specialized consulting.

What You'll Bring (Experience & Qualifications)

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on industry experience in the Operational Excellence or Operational Transformation space with a particular focus on digitisation or Industry 4.0
  • A mix of industry and previous consulting experience is desired
  • A track record of navigating complex operational transformation problems and driving significant performance improvement within Operations
  • Able to question the “status quo”, creating transparency for clients, synthesising & advising how to improve
  • Willingness to travel internationally and to work remotely on client sites
  • Excellent problem solving skills - hypothesis-driven approach and advanced quantitative analysis skills
  • Flexible, curious and creative, open for new things and able to propose innovative ideas
  • Experience working in more than one country and/or multi-cultural teams
