Practice Area Profile

The Operations Practice (OPS) Area is one of BCG's largest functional practices. We help our clients create competitive advantage by enhancing their performance and building strategic capabilities. BCG’s expertise in Operations covers the following areas - supply chain management, procurement, manufacturing, service operations, cost efficiency, operational transformation, research & product development, program and project management, all with a strong digital and analytics overlay.

What You'll Do

As a Project Leader or Principal for our Operations Practice Area with a focus on Procurement, you will have the responsibility for the delivery of consulting projects, leading BCG project teams to enable them to find the right approach, motivate them to deliver on time and to achieve long-term impact for our clients. You will drive the majority of the project related client interactions ensuring a constructive collaboration with our clients. Occasionally, you will also lead projects outside your project area as well. If you join BCG as Principal, you will not only take care of project leadership but also be included in business and client development, collaborating with and supporting our Managing Director & Partners.

  • Lead the day-to-day execution of consulting projects and ensuring successful delivery of client requirements within the scope of the engagement ; including (1) Owning the project planning and process management, and communicating progress to clients and BCG leadership; (2) Driving development of the content, either directly or by providing guidance to the consulting team (for example, by sharing ideas, frameworks or providing input on research and analysis; (3) Managing project scope and maintaining an acceptable pace of work
  • Actively manage multiple client and stakeholder relationship
  • Lead senior client presentations and meetings
  • Provide apprenticeship and coaching to associates and consultants to help develop their consulting skills, including sharing knowledge and experience, giving frequent feedback and creating opportunities for team members to learn and grow
  • For Principals: contribute to business and client development efforts of our Managing Director & Partners, including preparation of proposal documents, and attending pitch presentations etc.


What You'll Bring (Experience & Qualifications)

  • You ideally have 7-12 years of work experience with a convincing track record in project leadership related to key Operations topic areas with proven results and significant client impact
  • Knowledge challenging the “status quo”, creating transparency for clients, helping them understand the implications of their costs, synthesizing & advising how to improve
  • A track record of project/team leadership and related achievements
  • Willingness to travel internationally and to work remotely on client sites
  • Fluent French & English is a must
  • Problem solving skills - hypothesis-driven approach- and advanced quantitative analysis skills
  • Flexible, curious and creative, open for new things and able to propose innovative ideas
