Practice Area Profile

The Operations Practice (OPS) Area is one of BCG's largest functional practices. We help our clients create competitive advantage by enhancing their performance and building strategic capabilities. BCG’s expertise in Operations covers the following areas - supply chain management, procurement, manufacturing, service operations, cost efficiency, operational transformation, research & product development, program and project management, all with a strong digital and analytics overlay.

What You'll Do


As an Expert Consultant within BCG’s Operations Practice, you will work alongside some of the world’s top minds in industry – shaping performance improvement in mining and oil & gas assets across a diverse set of commodities. You will collaborate on challenging projects with team members from many backgrounds, advising BCG’s mining and resources clients on a variety of topics, including:

Current and potential asset performance, including cost and production uplift
Growth and sustaining capital allocation and optimisation
Reliability and safety improvement
Application of digital and technology
Operational Excellence and Lean Production Systems

You will contribute to client cases, workshops and proposals spending much of your time on-site during staffing assignments to both identify and deliver impact and change.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Bring high-quality expertise to the Operational Performance Improvement topic that delivers value to client organisations in the mining and resources sectors
Execute client work in a case team either as an advisor or individual contributor
Proactively pursue knowledge of cutting-edge research, technologies, and methodologies
Support presentation of key findings and recommendations to C-level executives and Operational Managers
Contribute to proposals together with the senior leadership of BCG’s OPS Practice 
Build awareness for BCG’s Operational Performance Improvement competence in the mining and resources communities
Contribute to Operational Performance Improvement intellectual property: conduct primary research, develop and refine ideas, methodologies and tools, design learning material, capture credentials and best practice

The Expert Consulting Track (ECT) is vital to BCG’s ability to successfully meet our clients’ demand for deep expertise and advanced technical capabilities. Experts deliver next-level impact for BCG's most complex and cutting-edge client challenges. Experts focus on developing BCG's thought leadership, commercial capabilities, and intellectual property assets; and their work is essential to our delivery model. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to bring the ‘best of BCG’ to our clients, Experts come from diverse backgrounds, with expertise often gained outside of BCG in industry, academia, or specialized consulting.

What You'll Bring (Experience & Qualifications)

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

5 - 10 years of relevant consulting or industry experience in the mining and resources sector 
Passion for complex problem solving
Expertise in multiple elements of performance improvement, e.g., cost reduction, production uplift, capital deployment, safety and reliability, Lean Production     Systems; specifically within the mining and resources sector 
A track record of driving and delivering high-value work, (e.g., owning the process, content and day-to-day client or team interactions)
An ability to think creatively, be adaptable and curious
Minimum of a Bachelor degree with outstanding academic performance from a top tier university

LOCATION

Ideally Perth. You must be prepared to travel extensively and spend a significant amount of time on site with our clients.
