Practice Area Profile

The Corporate Finance & Strategy Practice (CFS) combines rich expertise in corporate strategy concepts with a management methodology designed to create sustainable value-add for BCG clients. Our team provides extensive experience in planning and implementing corporate transactions including merger & acquisition deals and divestitures. We deliver analytic approaches that allow senior management to effectively deal with challenges such as generating growth, managing a portfolio of assets, forming a world-class finance organization, understanding risk, and responding to the way capital markets assess companies today. Taking swift action in turning around and restructuring a business for long-term survival is also part of our offering.

What You'll Do

BCG's Corporate Finance & Strategy practice (CFS) is growing rapidly and we are aggressively building our deep expertise and capabilities by adding CFO / Finance Transformation experts into our consulting ranks. We are currently looking for an Associate Director or Project Leader who has experience in and a strong passion for CFO Excellence and Finance Transformation topics.

You will be embedded in the CFS practice area, working on client assignments combined with the opportunity to work on business development and publications. You will act as a project manager for an entire case and define and drive the project approach, supervise BCG consultants, and manage day-to-day client interactions. You will lead the execution of large-scale transformation projects and provide guidance to other case teams at project launch and at key checkpoints.

As an Expert Associate Director / Project Leader, you will become a pivotal member of our consulting team, working alongside some of the world’s top minds on industry-shaping transactions. You will collaborate on challenging projects with team members from many backgrounds, advising clients on a variety of topics, including finance transformation, technology, operations, process and policy.

Our Expert Consulting Track (ECT)

The Expert Consulting Track (ECT) is vital to BCG’s ability to successfully meet our clients’ demand for deep expertise and advanced technical capabilities. Experts deliver next-level impact for BCG's most complex and cutting-edge client challenges. Experts focus on developing BCG's thought leadership, commercial capabilities, and intellectual property assets; and their work is essential to our delivery model. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to bring the ‘best of BCG’ to our clients, Experts come from diverse backgrounds, with expertise often gained outside of BCG in industry, academia, or specialized consulting.

What You'll Bring (Experience & Qualifications)

  • 5-10 years of work experience, with a deep focus in finance across topics such as financial effectiveness, CFO advisory, process and policy, technology, operations, organizational structure and strategy, and/or transformation
  • 2+ years of consulting experience
  • Deep expertise in finance, ideally in a consulting environment (for example, someone who transitioned from Big 4's finance or accounting business into an advisory / consulting role, or a former consultant who joined the finance function of a major corporation)
  • Chartered Accountant (CA) / Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred, MBA not required
  • Experience working on finance transformation programs
  • Knowledge in finance technology, finance process and policy, finance operations and finance organizational structure and organizational strategy
  • Superior problem-solving skills and ability to work well under pressure in a demanding environment
  • Ability to think strategically/end-to-end
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

BCG’s Corporate Finance & Strategy practice (CFS) drives client success by helping CEOs and leaders to win the “next game”—and how maximize value creation while doing it. We transform strategic insights into ambitious agendas for successful transformations. The practice comprises four mutually-supportive businesses—Strategy, Disruption & Reinvention, Corporate Finance, and Transactions (in partnership with our Transaction Integration Excellence team)—and fifth overlay focused on Advisory Excellence. The practice is the home of the Center for CFO Excellence, the Center for Growth & Innovation Analytics, the Center for Sensing & Mining the Future, and the ValueScience Center.

"CFO Excellence" comprises the following tasks of the finance function: defining the role and structure of the finance organization, determining where the work gets done (e.g., embedded, in a shared service, on/off-shore, or outsourced) external reporting, enablement of value creation (e.g., target setting, business performance meetings, KPI and incentive systems), facilitation of corporate planning decisions (e.g., financial scenario planning, effective management reporting and risk management), including measures to align corporate, financial and investor strategies. CFOx topic is in high demand within BCG and if you would like to work with the best clients and on the best projects, this would be the right fit for you!
